Background

Nancy Griesemer founded College Explorations LLC to address a growing need for more personalized college planning services. As a college consultant, Nancy has advised families from as far away as Thailand and as near as the house next door on search, selection, and application processes.

A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Nancy majored in English Literature and earned a Teaching Certificate in Secondary English. She received an MPA from Harvard University and completed coursework toward an MEd at George Washington University. A professional member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), Nancy participated in the 2007 IECA Summer Training Institute and earned a Certificate in College Counseling from UCLA.With a professional background that includes all levels of government as well as the not-for-profit sector, Nancy knows how to organize and motivate. She is an experienced writer, editor, instructor, manager, and program director and has found a place for each of these skills in her work as a college consultant.

As a parent and school volunteer, Nancy understands school-based student support programs and believes college consulting should complement and not replace services already available within the schools. Nancy continues to work with local schools and maintained a long-standing relationship with the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. She is a "lifetime" member of the Penn Alumni Club and has volunteered as an alumni interviewer. The proud parent of two, Nancy has considerable personal experience with the excitement and stress of the high school years and knows they can be survived with a great deal of joy.
